Get a Shipping Container Quote
Tell us what you need and where it is going. Your request goes to container suppliers and transport operators who service your area, and they quote you directly. The form below takes about two minutes.
Before you start
What to prepare for an accurate quote
Size
Choose 10ft, 20ft or 40ft, standard or high cube. If you are unsure, list what you need to store and the space available, or read what size container you need. Internal measurements are in our container dimensions guide.
Condition
New or one-trip containers cost more but arrive clean and straight. Used wind and watertight units suit most storage. As-is units are the cheapest and suit only rough use where small leaks do not matter. Our container grades guide explains the labels sellers use.
Buy or hire
Hire suits a fixed period such as a renovation or a building job. Buying usually works out cheaper once you need the container for more than about two years. The hire vs buy comparison sets out the numbers, and you can ask for both in one request.
Quantity
Say how many containers you need and whether they should match in colour, height or condition. A swinglift can often carry two 20ft containers at once, so ask whether several units can share a truck, and mention any future needs too.
Delivery address and access
Give the street address or a map pin for rural sites, not only a postal town. Describe the access: gate and driveway width, slope, soft ground, overhead lines and trees. Our container delivery guide lists what drivers check before they quote.
Timing
Tell suppliers when you need the container on site and whether the date is fixed or flexible. If the site is not ready yet, for example while a pad is being prepared, give an approximate date so suppliers can plan stock and trucks.
Details that change the price
Access photos and modifications
Access
Send photos of the spot and the route in
Access that was not described is a common reason for a delivery price to change later. A photo of the placement spot, one of the gate or driveway and one looking up for power lines answer most of a driver’s questions. Say whether the container needs to go over a fence, beside a house or down a farm track.
Modifications
List any changes you want made
Roller doors, personnel doors, windows, extra vents, shelving, lock boxes, lining and power are all priced separately from the container. Listing them in your request lets suppliers quote the finished unit rather than the bare box. Options are explained on our container modifications page.

What happens after you submit
- Your request is passed to container suppliers and transport operators who service your delivery area.
- Suppliers contact you directly, usually by email or phone, with a price, the container’s condition, the delivery cost and their terms. Depending on your location you may hear from one supplier or several.
- You compare the quotes. Check that each one shows GST, the delivery cost and the condition in words, and how long the price is valid. Our container prices guide explains what drives the differences.
- If you accept a quote, you deal with that supplier for payment and delivery. The contract is between you and the supplier, and you are under no obligation to accept any quote.
Requesting quotes is free. A request does not reserve a container; stock is only held once you confirm an order with a supplier.

How your details are used
We collect only what suppliers need to quote: your name, contact details, the delivery location and the container details you enter. These details are passed to the container suppliers and transport operators who service your area so they can contact you about your request. They are handled in line with the Privacy Act 2020 information privacy principles, and you can ask to see or correct them at any time. The full details are in our privacy policy.
Under the Fair Trading Act, a quote must not mislead about the final cost, so ask any supplier to make delivery, crane and other charges clear before you agree. More about how the platform works is on our about us page.

Quote request questions
Yes. Requesting quotes through Shipping-Containers.co.nz is free and you are under no obligation to accept any of them. You only pay if you decide to buy or hire from a supplier, and that payment goes directly to the supplier, never to us. Ask for prices with GST and delivery shown separately.
Describe what you want to store or build and the space you have, and say you are unsure of the size. Suppliers can suggest a size based on that. It helps to measure your largest items, because the door opening is smaller than the inside of the container. Our size guide has examples by use.
Yes. Say in your request that you want both, and give the expected hire period. Suppliers who offer both can then quote a monthly hire rate with delivery and collection, and a purchase price with delivery. Comparing the two over your expected timeframe shows which is cheaper for your job.
No. A request starts the conversation with suppliers but does not hold stock. A container is only reserved once you confirm an order with a supplier, usually with a deposit or full payment under that supplier’s terms. Confirm the business name and bank details before paying anything.
